Acquisitions, Automation, and Plunet Migrations

The Translation People are on an ambitious growth path. A large part of this growth is through acquisitions backed by private equity investment. Following our own migration to Plunet from a bespoke but outdated business management system last year, all three of our recent acquisitions have used Plunet as their BMS. Consequently, a big part of their merger with TTP involves migrating their Plunet system to ours.

As TTP’s Business Application and Technology Analyst, it is my job to manage and oversee these migrations. I will be talking about the benefits and challenges of this type of mass data migration and aligning varying business approaches. One of the main benefits of Plunet is its flexibility, but this can add to the complexity of a migration when it comes to mergers, particularly when dealing with very different workflows and business practices across the two Plunet systems.

We also have plans to introduce greater automation to our workflows guided largely by the very successful use of the AutomationManager and dynamic CAT integration by one of our recent acquisitions.
